Our very first interview at the Web Summit was with someone whose name is synonymous with change: Monika Mikac, CEO at NAD Capital. NAD Capital is a venture capital firm that chiefly invests in the automotive sector.
Known for being historically non-inclusive, Monika reports that she's seen the auto industry improve in leaps and bounds towards creating a welcoming environment for women and young girls. When Monika was young, she shares, she was one of the very few women in the automotive industry, but today she sees more young women entering into fields such as engineering, design, and other spaces that may have been previously under-represented among women. In many ways, the future of the automotive industry looks bright.
One of the most exciting aspects of mobility in the future is the prospect of electric vehicles. Specifically, Monika shares, how electric vehicles may revolutionize the way we approach transport from the ground up thanks to automation. Monika describes how, in the future, cars will be used more efficiently through ride-sharing and self-driving features.
